Superb potted, traditional cobalt oxide paint shines brightly in this bowl from the ancient Ming Dynasty. Its clean foot displays the significant mark of the Yongle Emperor (1402 - 1424 A.D.). Its base grows with traditional Chinese arches until it reaches a blue sky full of clouds with beautifully represented white doves in full flight, symbol of a long life.

The body grows to a slightly flared rim, highlighted from the inside with a double line medallion, which frames the exquisite inner figure of the piece that shows the vivid painting of another couple of doves flying peacefully over a sky full of clouds, creating a harmonious and captivating image.
